Arne Slot responds to ‘we are going to win the league’ chants from Liverpool fans following 2-0 win against Man City

In response to allegations that Liverpool have successfully clinched the Premier League title after their 2-0 victory over Manchester City on Sunday, Arne Slot has provided his response.

Despite the fact that Liverpool had not won a league game at the Etihad Stadium since the 2015–16 season, they were able to defeat their opponents with relative ease.

Mo Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai scored goals in the first half to put Liverpool out of reach. As a result, Arne Slot’s team moved 11 points ahead of Arsenal in the Premier League standings thanks to their winning performance.

Following Arsenal’s loss to West Ham, Liverpool supporters could be heard singing “we are going to win the league” to Man City supporters as the game was coming to a close. This was in response to the fact that the title appeared to be almost certain after Arsenal’s loss.

After the game, Slot was questioned about the chants and asked if he shares the same optimism as the fans that the title will be returning to Anfield. Slot responded that he does share the same optimism.

“We know that a week ago I was being told if you only beat Wolves 2-1 that’s not a very good thing, and then three days later I got questions about us having a dip because we got a draw at Villa Park, which in my opinion is a very good result,” Slot told the television station beIN Sport.

“Now, all of a sudden, it is the polar opposite of what I expected.”

I am not the type of person who would say that; I already believed that Villa was a good draw and that Wolves was a good win, and I believe that this [Man City] is a good win.

In spite of the fact that there are eleven games left, the manager of Liverpool insisted that his team’s recent results have not been easy to achieve, and that they must continue to concentrate on finishing the job.

“We have 11 to go, it’s far too easy to talk like some people do because we know how much work we have to put in to get the results.”

In addition, Slot commented on Salah’s performance, pointing out that the Egyptian player broke six records during the match with his goal and assist together.

The explanation provided by the Dutchman was that “the numbers speak for themselves.”

To say that he was a threat at all times is probably an understatement when it comes to the quality of a player he is. The fact that he gets the ball and then does something extraordinary is a testament to the fact that it is not easy for an attacker to defend.
