Arteta praised Calafiori as a person with a strong and distinctive personality, possessing a unique combination of abilities that will contribute to Arsenal’s efforts to win a significant championship.
The coach expressed his anticipation of collaborating with the ex-Basel and Roma defender for an extended period.
Arteta’s remarks regarding Calafiori
“We extend a warm welcome to Riccardo and his family as they join Arsenal.” “He is an excellent acquisition and provides us with significant fortification to bolster our defence,” Arteta stated on the club’s website.
“Riccardo possesses a commanding presence and distinctive qualities that will enhance our team’s capabilities as we strive to secure significant championships.” His recent performances for both Bologna and Italy have demonstrated significant development, with particularly excellent progression and development over the past year.
“We anticipate collaborating with Riccardo, assimilating him into the team, and providing him with assistance in the future.”
Calafiori has officially signed with Arsenal for a reported amount of €45m, which includes a further €5m in bonuses. Meanwhile, the player has entered into a five-year agreement at the Emirates, with a rumoured salary of €4m per season.
The 22-year-old individual landed in the United Kingdom for a medical examination on Saturday morning. Subsequently, he promptly travelled to the United States to join his new coach and colleagues at their pre-season training camp.
