In their pursuit of a successor to Mohamed Salah, Liverpool is allegedly prepared to shatter the British transfer record.

According to the Spanish publication Sport, Liverpool is considering Vinicius Jr. of Real Madrid as a possible replacement for Salah in the event that he decides to leave Anfield.

Liverpool is ready to join Chelsea and PSG in offering a hefty £171 million to get the Brazilian winger.

On the other hand, reports indicate that Real Madrid is eager to maintain Vinicius by offering him a five-year contract extension. With 28 games for Real Madrid this season, Vinicius Jr. has been outstanding, contributing eight assists and scoring eighteen goals.

Real Madrid appears hesitant to part with Vinicius, even though Liverpool is interested. After turning down a £150 million offer from Al Ittihad in the summer, Liverpool is understandably worried about losing Salah.

There is talk that Salah may look for a fresh challenge in the next transfer window, given that his contract with Liverpool expires in 2025 and Jurgen Klopp’s future is uncertain.

Reportedly, Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s sporting director, is giving Virgil van Dijk, Mo Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold top priority when it comes to contract extensions.

Instead of taking the chance of losing Salah for free next year, Liverpool may decide to trade him if talks with him fail.

Salah has maintained his incredible record since joining the club with 22 goals and 13 assists in 34 games this season, continuing to flourish for Liverpool despite the transfer rumors.
