Mykhaylo Mudryk scored a great goal against the Magpies, but Mauricio Pochettino has warned him that he still needs to improve. Pochettino has told his Chelsea team that they must build on their victory over Newcastle or face more difficulties. Following Chelsea’s 3-2 triumph at Stamford Bridge, the manager of Chelsea lauded the efforts of substitute Mudryk, who scored the game’s winning goal in the 76th minute.

After entering the game as a substitute, the Ukrainian impressed everyone and effectively sealed the victory for Chelsea. It was now 3-1 after he sprinted to claim the ball and deftly sidestepped Martin Dubravka and Fabian Schar to score.

“It was a very good goal and that is what we expect from a player from the bench – impact,” said Pochettino. “Next, he has to contend with rival players for his spot. Then he will be worthy of (beginning).”

This game-changing goal gave Chelsea back control at a critical juncture, something the Blues have recently struggled with.

They were ahead 1-0 when, following a string of mishaps, Trevoh Chalobah raced up to assist, creating a big hole at the back. Malo Gusto was caught off guard while trying to juggle the ball in midfield.

Alexander Isak capitalized to give the visitors a point. Cole Palmer’s shot had earlier given Nicolas Jackson’s team an early lead in the sixth minute when he cleverly flicked it past Martin Dubravka and into the bottom corner of the goal.

In the second half, Cole Palmer scored Chelsea’s 13th goal of the year. Palmer turned and struck the goal with a strong shot after receiving a pass from Enzo Fernandez, giving his team a 2-1 lead.

After that, Mudryk worked his magic for the game’s pivotal moment, but Jacob Murphy’s stunning shot into the top corner gave Chelsea one last cause for concern. Nonetheless, the hosts held on to win.

After, Pochettino stated: “We have to realize that we are Chelsea. The project we are working on is entirely different from previous ones. There may be some confusion among them. It’s challenging to listen to people who refuse to engage.

However, we are making an effort to clarify that we are not the same Chelsea; rather, we are creating something new. It will not be easy.

He reassured his team, saying, “We need to keep believing, even in difficult circumstances.” After three days, we play Brentford in the FA Cup, having played the 120-minute Carabao Cup final. We played three very difficult games in six days, almost all with the same team.

“It was very difficult. Okay, so maybe that means we’re a disaster. The fact that it doesn’t affect the team is what matters most. We remain hopeful even though they are aware of what must be done.”
