Sir Alex Ferguson, the former manager of Manchester United, achieved his first victory at the Cheltenham Festival as a co-owner on Thursday. Shortly after, he secured another win, completing a double. However, his hopes of a triple were dashed by his old opponent, Harry Redknapp.

The Scottish individual found themselves in the area designated for the winners following the victory of Monmiral, a horse with odds of 25-1, ridden by jockey Harry Cobden and trained by Paul Nicholls. Monmiral overtook Kyntara to secure the win in the Pertemps Network Final Handicap Hurdle.

“That was excellent…” “This is my inaugural victory at this venue,” he stated to ITV Racing. “John Hales, the co-owner, is the expert in selecting the horses, and we fully support his decisions.”

Protektorat, ranked 17-2, subsequently defeated the favored Envoi Allen and jockey Rachael Blackmore to secure victory in the Ryanair Chase on the third day of the Festival, which concludes with the Gold Cup on Friday.

“After waiting for 20 years, I have now had two winners in just 40 minutes,” Ferguson exclaimed.

Redknapp, the former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, saw as his horse Shakem Up’Arry, named after a fan’s frequent yell behind the West Ham dugout during his tenure as coach, triumphed over Ferguson’s Il Ridoto in the Plate Handicap Chase.

“My grandmother introduced me to racing; she used to work as a bookmaker’s assistant in the past,” Redknapp informed ITV Racing.
