Raya accomplished an amazing thing at Old Trafford.

After 30 years, no other Gunners player has accomplished what Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya did in Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Manchester United.

Following the significant victory at Old Trafford, Mikel Arteta’s team returned to the top of the Premier League standings.

The game’s lone goal, scored by Leandro Trossard, came in the first half, and Arsenal controlled the second half to seal the victory.

They will now watch Tuesday’s match between Manchester City and Tottenham to find out if they still have a chance before the season ends. Arsenal will lead the table prior to gameweek 38 if City loses to Spurs in their upcoming match.

Even though the scoreline may indicate otherwise, the Gunners had a comparatively easy afternoon at their bitter rivals’ stadium.

In the ninety minutes, Erik ten Hag’s team managed just two shots on goal. Raya played a fairly quiet game until the end, when he was booked for time-wasting.

According to OptaJoe, the Spaniard tied David Seaman as the second goalkeeper for Arsenal to maintain a clean sheet away from home against both Manchester United and City in a single season after the final whistle.

Seaman attained that specific statistic in the 1993–94 season. Although City spent the majority of the next 15 years in the Premier League’s midtable—they even dropped to the Second Division in 1998 before winning back-to-back promotions—their dominance since then has meant that few goalkeepers have kept a clean sheet against them.

Raya, who joined the Gunners on loan from Brentford in the summer, has kept 16 clean sheets this season and has shown manager Mikel Arteta how valuable he is.

After the Spaniard’s stellar season in goal, Arsenal is expected to exercise their option to purchase the goalkeeper permanently for £27 million when the summer transfer window opens.
