United still have the opportunity to finalise a deal; however, the preseason may conclude upon its completion

Uli Hoeness, the honorary president of Manchester United, appears to have reinforced the team’s summer transfer push for Matthijs de Ligt of Bayern Munich. The media has been debating whether the Dutchman would remain in Bavaria for the upcoming season for quite some time.

Following Raphael Varane’s summertime departure, United recruited Leny Yoro from Lille this summer in an attempt to bolster the defence. In order to make room for new players, United is interested in offloading players like Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof this summer.

While playing for Ajax, De Ligt collaborated with Erik ten Hag, the manager of United, and the two would like to rejoin at Old Trafford. The Old Trafford club was interested in the Dutchman before to his signing with Juventus, but the Italian team was able to beat him out. United attempted to sign De Ligt, but their offer was turned down.

Additionally, it has been widely reported that De Ligt has given United the go-ahead for the transfer and that the Old Trafford club and United have agreed on personal terms. This sounds rather advanced for something that might not actually happen. All United needs to do is work out a price with Bayern.

The primary issue with this possible transaction will be that Bayern wants to make money by selling the player, who has no future at the team, rather than lose money because they will need to sell players to make room for new players and rebuild before the next season begins.

Even if it appears that negotiations are at a standstill right now, there’s still a high chance that United signs De Ligt before the summer transfer window ends on August 30, 2024, at 11 p.m., allowing them plenty of time to organise the deal’s completion. This week, Hoeness addressed the media about De Ligt’s possible sale. He said that while the player might leave the team this summer, Dayot Upamecano, a teammate, will not be leaving Bavara. This transfer may be handled by United with ease.
