According to talkSPORT, Chelsea has resumed negotiations with Napoli regarding the transfer of striker Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has expressed his desire to depart from Naples, but he is hesitant to join the Blues unless it is for a permanent agreement.

Napoli has already secured Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku as a replacement for the Nigerian player, who has a contract with a release clause above £100m.

Osimhen is allegedly among the four strikers who the Blues are considering as prospective additions prior to the closure of the transfer season on August 30.

However, Enzo Maresca, the newly appointed manager of the Blues, is particularly eager to recruit the 25-year-old player, who has garnered significant acclaim for his exceptional exploits.

Osimhen emerged from the Ultimate Strikers Academy in his hometown of Lagos, Nigeria, where he gained recognition for his performance at the U17 World Cup. Subsequently, he completed two seasons as a player for Wolfsburg – one of which was spent on loan at Charleroi – and another season at Lille before to his signing with Napoli in 2020.

He has excelled in Serie A and was the leading goal-scorer in 2023 when Napoli emerged as the champions.

Napoli’s sporting director, Giovanni Manna, has just acknowledged that Osimhen is actively seeking to depart from the club prior to the window’s closure.

“Victor Osimhen has expressed his desire to depart from the club,” he stated. “He desires to depart.”

The position is unambiguous, given there were previous opportunities for his departure last summer. Victor desires to depart. In the upcoming 20 days, we will witness the outcome.

Manager Maresca is not the sole individual who is enthusiastic about the forward’s transfer to London.

John Obi Mikel, a renowned figure in Chelsea’s history, has expressed his enthusiasm for this deal and his commitment to ensuring its successful completion.

“We do not require an individual who will solely focus on providing assists and generating opportunities.” “We are seeking an individual who possesses the ability to complete tasks efficiently, demonstrate proficiency in goal-scoring, particularly in executing tap-ins,” stated Obi Mikel in a recent video.

“A player similar to Erling Haaland.” Victor Osimhen will contribute that particular quality to Chelsea.

“I anticipate that Chelsea supporters will ultimately witness his arrival at the club.” I will ensure that I promptly send him the text messages and make phone calls, ensuring that Chelsea remains his utmost priority.

“Didier (Drogba) is also engaging in conversation with him, imparting his own ideas and expressing the significance of the club to us,” he stated. “We all desire Victor’s presence at the club.” If an event occurs, it occurs.

“Although the transfer fee is substantial, it would be exceptionally favourable if we can meet it and successfully bring him to the club.”
