Man United was informed that in order to sign Ugarte Alternative during the summer transfer window, they would need to match Sporting CP’s £67 million release clause – Report
According to the Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), Sporting CP is unlikely to sell top Manchester United target Morten Hjulmand for anything less than his buyout clause.

According to a Portuguese newspaper, Sporting’s head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly informed their board that he does not want to sell the Denmark international this summer.

This suggests that should the Red Devils want to pursue Hjulmund in the following weeks, they may have to pay up to €80 million (£67 million) for him.

The 25-year-old was acquired by Sporting from Lecce for €18 million (£15 million) last summer; this represents a considerable increase in just one year. Why is United interested in Hjulmand?

Both Casemiro and Scott McTominay’s futures remain uncertain. Fulham is known to be interested in the latter, while Saudi Arabia is rumoured to be interested in the former.

Therefore, the club’s primary priority before the transfer window ends at the end of August is to sign someone like Hjulmand.

What’s going on with Ugarte?
Hjulmand is reportedly one of the options Manchester United is thinking about in case their negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Manuel Ugarte fail.

The Uruguayan international’s personal terms have already been agreed upon, but talks have stalled since PSG is wanting €70 million (£59 million) for the player.

Since Ugarte is not a part of the Ligue One club’s first-team ambitions, United is hopeful that this number will be reduced.

They have been looking into options in the interim, though, and it appears that a deal for Hjulmand would also be excessively costly.
