Man Utd players think Erik ten Hag call has been made after ‘noticing change’ in boss
Recent weeks have seen a lot of conjecture surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future at Manchester United, as the Red Devils are currently 11 points behind their top four opponents.
Notwithstanding Erik ten Hag’s public declaration that he has “no doubts” he will still be at Old Trafford for the upcoming campaign, some Manchester United players think the Dutchman is planning to be fired.
Ten Hag’s future has been the subject of much conjecture, especially in the wake of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a minority share in the team. The head of INEOS has assumed complete command over football operations and has already implemented numerous changes.
Dan Ashworth and Jason Wilcox are being lined up to become United’s new sporting director and technical director, respectively, while Omar Berrada has been named CEO. Furthermore, a Sun report claims that a number of United players believe Ten Hag “has now resigned himself to the sack.”
Players have ‘noticed a change in the demeanour’ of Ten Hag, according to the report, indicating that he thinks Ratcliffe is prepared to make a change this summer. It follows Ratcliffe’s rejection of a public vote of confidence in Ten Hag in February.
When asked about Ten Hag’s future, he responded, “I’m not going to comment on the job he’s done because that would be inappropriate.” “Looking back at the 11 years since Sir Alex and David Gill resigned, there has been a whole turnover of coaches, which is pertinent to that question.
“Although some of them were excellent, none of them have achieved much success or endured for very long. Not all of the coaches are to blame. The only conclusion that can be drawn is that their working environment was ineffective.
“Erik has experienced that setting, and our job is to ensure that the setting, the company, and the individuals within the structure are all appropriate. I’m more concerned with getting that part right than I am with the coach because we have to do it.
“That’s not for me to decide. But during our time in business, we’ve had to make some really tough choices. We’ll just evaluate the evidence logically and render an impartial decision. Really, we’re not a cruel organization.
“But sometimes you do have to make decisions, that may not be popular.” With United currently sitting sixth in the Premier League and 11 points out of the top four, Ten Hag did reiterate earlier this month that he is confident he will still be in charge come football season.
Ten Hag said to Sky Sports, “I have no doubts.” “I’m just concentrating on my work, this project, and this process. I’m having a great time here, I truly do. It’s a challenge for me. Although things won’t always go as planned or produce the desired results, I’m confident that we’re headed in the right direction and will eventually arrive at our destination.”
