Mikel Arteta Walks Out of Interview Following Man Utd 1-1 Arsenal After Title Race Question

After Arsenal’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday night, Mikel Arteta abruptly left his post-match interview. Bruno Fernandes gave the home team the lead with a wonderful free kick just before halftime, but Declan Rice’s equaliser in the final quarter of an hour saved a point for the visitors.

With ten games remaining, the Gunners are still 15 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, despite David Raya’s numerous outstanding saves in the second half that prevented the outcome from getting worse. His ‘agitated’ behaviour has provoked intense controversy, and the Spaniard seemed unwilling to explain anything when questioned about it.

The Spaniard also shot down suggestions he regrets not signing a striker

After his team dominated possession for significant stretches of play without presenting much of a sustained attacking threat, Arteta seemed to lose his temper when asked if he regretted not signing a striker in an interview with Sky Sports following the final whistle. In January, the Gunners were linked to players like Alexander Isak and Benjamin Sesko. However, Arteta retorted that the outcome was unrelated to it and that it was not the case.

The reporter interrupted the former midfielder as he attempted to leave the interview, asking immediately what the draw meant for the title battle. The 42-year-old hurried back to the dressing room without responding.

Although Arteta’s sudden departure has not been explained, Gary Neville did consider the fact that the Arsenal manager appeared upset even before addressing the media:

“I see why he was upset as he approached the Arsenal supporters at the end. Although they controlled the game, it is not “lineball,” where you must essentially walk the ball across the 18-yard line and step on it in order to score. He is the only one who is aware of that.
