An agreement has been reached by Manchester United for the first signing of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe era.
The long-time Red Devils supporter and petrochemicals tycoon closed a deal earlier this year for a minority stake in the team, forming his backroom staff in the first few months of his leadership. Dan Ashworth left Newcastle United, Jason Wilcox moved from Southampton, and Omar Berrada signed from Manchester City.

Erik ten Hag’s appointment as manager is officially announced, and as Manchester United looks to rebuild their team, his first new hire seems to be in line.

Joshua Zirkzee is “increasingly headed towards” the 20-time English champions, according to Italian publication Corriere di Bologna. It is probable that United and agent Kia Joorabchian have “reached an agreement” over a €15 million agency fee.

Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported via Sport Witness on Ten Hag’s alleged personal call to the Bologna star to get him to visit Old Trafford, as well as the club’s apparent refusal to accede to Joorabchian’s demands.

Since no significant Italian media outlet has reported on it, FourFourTwo are hesitant to assume that a deal has been finalised just yet. However, it appears that many of the terms and circumstances of a possible move have already been agreed upon.

With the ability to use the Dutch international, who is now away at Euro 2024, as a rotating option alongside Rasmus Hojlund or as a shadow striker to play behind the Dane, this may completely change United’s attacking lineup.

Despite Zirkzee’s €40 million clause being active today, Milan, the other top contender for the 23-year-old former Bayern Munich striker, is reportedly searching for alternatives, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Zirkzee is valued by Transfermarkt at €50 million.
