According to Fabrizio Romano, Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi are two of Liverpool’s managerial targets to succeed Jurgen Klopp.

In light of Klopp’s decision to resign as manager, Liverpool is searching for a new boss.

But Romano thinks that until Liverpool appoints a new sporting director, no decisions will be made.

Journalist Fabrizio Romano exclusively disclosed to GIVEMESPORT that Liverpool’s confirmed list of managerial targets to succeed Jurgen Klopp includes both Xabi Alonso and Roberto De Zerbi.

After the legendary German manager announced he will be leaving the position in the summer, the Reds are currently searching for a new manager to replace Klopp at the end of the current campaign. Most people may have been shocked to learn that Liverpool has reportedly been working behind the scenes for several months to find candidates who could be chosen as viable Klopp successors.

The news of Klopp’s decision to announce his departure mid-season shocked the Liverpool team, supporters, and the football community at large, naturally. This has raised a lot of questions. The Liverpool players may be looking to take advantage of it, though, as reports from the Athletic indicate they see the second half of the 2023–2024 campaign as their “last dance” with their longtime coach.

Away from the field, though, Liverpool’s next few months are expected to be turbulent as they try to rebuild and get ready for life after Klopp. That is rumored to begin with the selection of a new sporting director, as current director Jorg Schmadtke is expected to step down within the next few days.

Schmadtke was only ever supposed to be a stopgap, and the Reds are currently looking for a long-term solution that can help them with their managerial hunt. Schmadtke took on the role in the summer.
