Return dates as Liverpool hit by new injuries involving Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo

Return schedules as Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo suffer fresh injuries for Liverpool
Report: Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz, and Cody Gakpo sustain new injuries

Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo, and Luis Diaz all have injuries from Sunday’s 4-3 loss to Manchester United, and their status for Liverpool is uncertain.

After an exciting 120-minute match at Old Trafford in the FA Cup quarterfinal, the Reds were eliminated. Erik ten Hag’s team won extra time thanks to a goal from Amad Diallo. The following month, they will take on Coventry City at Wembley Stadium in the semi-finals.

Nine first-team players were absent for Klopp’s squad going into the match: Ben Doak, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate, Curtis Jones, Diogo Jota, Thiago Alcantara, Stefan Bajcetic, and Alisson Becker. The three attackers may now be on the injured list after a rough match against Erik ten Hag’s team.

Following his own recent recovery from a hamstring injury, Egypt gave the Reds special permission to keep Mohamed Salah on Merseyside for the international break. Ryan Gravenberch was included in the match-day squad for Sunday’s game, but he hasn’t played since the Carabao Cup final almost a month ago.

Following Sunday’s match, Klopp disclosed that Nunez, Diaz, and Gakpo had all sustained injuries that will require close observation leading up to the national games.

“The boys need to recover now that they are on international duty,” Klopp said to BBC Sport. We hope they’re well enough to return. We encountered some problems. Darwin felt his hamstring, and Lucho (Diaz) felt his groin; hopefully, it’s not. Cody has twisted his ankle, I think. I’m not sure why I didn’t get it back.

“It’s a crazy schedule; I’m not sure when they play their first game, but it will definitely be in four or five days. Hopefully, they make it through, and then the remainder of the season can start.

“Our chances are better the more boys we have available. to cap off the season with flair. We’ll see. We are out for the time being, and my heart goes out to our people. At times, we performed well, but so did our team.

“I feel bad for them because for the next week or two, they will have to listen to some Manchester United fans [gloat].” However, we’ll try again when we return in a few weeks.

“How could I doubt the character of my boys?” Klopp asked. I don’t because of the amazing work they’ve done this season.

“I hate to lose, but we have to accept it for today. The game would be over if we used the situations, but we didn’t. Through the open door, they dash. Even though we don’t feel great at the moment, I’m still proud.

The boys gave everything they had. Not every decision we made was excellent. Though we had the option, we chose not to go with a better player for the counterattack. On the other hand, we excelled in a few instances but failed to take advantage of it.

“You have to accept the outcome. They are deserving of moving on to the next phase. We knew they could come back at one point in the second half when we should have finished but didn’t. We must remember that they had amazing opportunities once more. But there was a situation in the second half where we were supposed to end the game but didn’t.

“I think my guys once again displayed amazing character. Outstanding work once more. Everyone demonstrated it. In terms of games played, our season is not comparable to United’s. particularly lately, but that’s alright, we can handle it. In spite of our schedule, we might have won the match.
