Sir Alex Ferguson, the former manager of Manchester United, has been awarded a lifetime membership by Eintracht Frankfurt in recognition of his connections to the Bundesliga club.

In his debut match for Rangers in 1967, Ferguson achieved a hat-trick against Frankfurt, leading the Scottish giants to a 5-3 victory in a pre-season friendly.

The octogenarian was present at Ibrox as an observer when the two teams clashed in the semi-finals of the European Cup seven years prior. The German club emerged victorious in the second leg with a score of 6-3, securing a comprehensive 12-4 aggregate triumph.

There are numerous channels of contact that led to a personal conversation with the renowned trainer and management.

The official Twitter account of Eintracht Frankfurt, known as @eintracht_eng, posted on March 19, 2024.

“That was incredible,” Ferguson recollected in an interview published on Frankfurt’s website.

Frankfurt were victorious in the initial match, defeating Rangers with a commanding score of 6-1. I attended the second match when Eintracht visited Ibrox Stadium with a crowd of 70,000 spectators.

However, there were also notable players such as Ferenc Puskas, Alfredo Di Stefano, and Paco Gento. In my opinion, it is highly unlikely that any future squad would possess the same level of charisma as the Real Madrid team during that period.

“Puskas netted four goals while Di Stefano scored three.” The players were exceptional and the 7-3 victory was a remarkable game. There was no disgrace in being defeated in this game. Frankfurt demonstrated its capabilities in the semi-final match against Rangers.
