Liverpool fans have had a lot to say about Stefan Bajcetic since highlights of his performance for Las Palmas against Barcelona leaked on social media. The defensive midfielder progressed through the Reds’ youth but is not yet ready to make an impact in the first squad. As a result, he’s been loaned out this season to further his development. He was first loaned to Red Bull Salzburg for the 2024/25 season, but was recalled in January and transferred to Las Palmas in Spain for the second half of the season.

The 20-year-old has played four games for the La Liga club and scored one goal, but his most recent appearance against Barcelona has piqued the interest of Liverpool fans. Keen to keep an eye on their young prospect’s progress, a video of his highlights has leaked on X (Twitter), and Reds fans are expressing their opinions on the social networking platform.

Bajcetic’s Performance Against Barcelona

He impressed despite the loss

While Barcelona easily defeated Las Palmas 2-0 with to goals from Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres, Bajcetic stood out for his solid effort. The team has struggled since the youngster’s arrival, and he has lost every league match he has played with them thus far, but he has started well individually.

That was also true versus Barcelona, where he delivered a strong performance in the middle of the park. He had 41 touches of the ball during the game, making two passes into the final third and providing a big opportunity for his team. He also put in a defensive effort, recording three interceptions and five recoveries in 86 minutes. Check out some of his highlights below:

Liverpool fans were also ready to express their opinions. They were highly impressed by what they witnessed from their rising star. One fan took to X to express their excitement for next season, believing he will play an important part at Anfield. They said: “Gonna be huge for us next season by the looks of it,” while another agreed and wrote: “Next season, he needs to stay with us.”

A third fan was quite impressed by what they saw from Bajcetic and even compared him to one of Liverpool’s all-time greatest players, Steven Gerrard, saying: “Looking more like Stevie G all the time.”

One fan even wished to see him return to Anfield as soon as possible, feeling Ryan Gravenberch required support, writing: “Recall him immediately… Gravenberch is running out of steam.”
