Breaking News: Chelsea have already made another Abraham transfer decision after Solanke agreement
Chelsea decides to trade a striker for £69.5 million after reaching a club-record agreement.

Along with finalising negotiations to sign Samu Omorodion and hold talks to sign Victor Osimhen, Chelsea appears to have decided to make yet another move of strikers. Prior to the 2024–2025 season, it seemed quite likely that the Blues would add an attacker to help relieve some of Nicolas Jackson’s workload.
Due to persistent injury concerns for Christopher Nkunku and the loan exits of Romelu Lukaku and Armando Broja, Jackson was frequently the only obvious choice to be chosen during the previous campaign. As a result, connections to players like Omorodion, Jonathan David, and Jhon Duran surfaced; the Blues have since decided to sign the latter.
Chelsea agreed to pay £35 million for Omorodion, and the Spanish team was willing to trade the player after Conor Gallagher was sold to Atletico Madrid. Given that Chelsea had earlier in the transfer window billed Atletico Madrid £70 million to sign Julian Alvarez, their position was probably softened by the player’s lucrative move from Manchester City to Atletico.
While competing for Spain in the Olympics in Paris, the 20-year-old was able to finish the medical requirements for his new club in the city of love. Negotiations over a possible loan agreement for Osimhen from Napoli proceeded concurrently with their pursuit of Omorodion, with Lukaku moving in the other direction.
Many other teams are also in the market for new strikers; earlier this month, London rivals Tottenham began negotiations with Bournemouth to sign Dominic Solanke. Even though his £65 million release clause looked to be a roadblock, Spurs and the Cherries have now reached an agreement for the 26-year-old to join for a club-record £65 million.
Thirty million of those will go straight to Bournemouth, with the remaining amounts being attainable add-ons. According to Ryan Taylor of the Mirror, his departure appears certain to have a cascading effect, as Andoni Iraola is eager to sign a successor and Tammy Abraham, a former Chelsea target, is expected to become available.
A buyback clause was added to Abraham’s contract when the Blues sold him to AS Roma in the summer of 2021. As of a year ago, Chelsea has the ability to activate that financial option, allowing them to re-sign the 26-year-old for €80 million (£69.5 million).
Chelsea is unlikely to bring their academy graduate back to Stamford Bridge, given that the deal to sign Omorodion is about to be revealed.
