‘Open to everything’ – Man City star Kevin De Bruyne makes Saudi Arabia transfer admission

Kevin De Bruyne has acknowledged that he and his family are talking about leaving England and that he might be amenable to moving to Saudi Arabia.

The star player for Manchester City, who turns 33 later this month, has one more year left on his deal at the Etihad and is currently in negotiations with the team regarding his future. ManchesterWorld reported last week that De Bruyne and City are trying to come to an amicable agreement, with one source describing the player and the team as “extremely comfortable.”

Thus, it’s possible that the Belgian will leave City this summer after spending nine illustrious years in sky blue. He has been connected to moves to Saudi Arabia and the United States, and in a recent interview, De Bruyne acknowledged that the latter might be a more alluring option given the enormous salaries on offer.

“An exotic adventure is okay for [my wife] Michèle,” he said to the Belgian publication Het Laatste Nieuws. We are also talking about these topics more and more as a family. I have to consider my options because I have one year remaining on my contract.

At eight years old, my eldest child has no knowledge of anything but England. How long will I play for City, he also asks? When that time comes, we’ll need to handle it a certain way.

Regarding those connections to Saudi Arabia, De Bruyne continued, “At my age, you have to be open to everything.” You’re discussing enormous sums of money at a time when my career might be coming to an end. There are moments when you need to consider that.

“I will have the opportunity to make a substantial salary if I play there for two years. I had to play football for fifteen years prior to that. I might not even get close to that sum yet.

The next thing you need to consider is what that might imply. However, I haven’t had to consider that as of yet.

De Bruyne would join former teammates Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez, who both relocated to Saudi Arabia last year, if he were to play in the Saudi Pro League.
